So here we are, in another hurricane season still trying to get our insurance money from Freedom to complete repairs. They are very disorganized, unresponsive, have lack of empathy for the situation (process took literally 6 months), and did very little outside of delaying every step as much as they could to avoid assumption of the loan. There isn’t anything constructive or positive I could say about this company. We repeatedly would get no response back when asking questions or submitting documentation and would finally have to suggest we get a loan attorney involved in order to get a response. They would consistently transfer you to another department and later claim that the person we were trying to reach had been out of town but didn’t notify us of this on the front end. We would constantly get the run around in terms of who was responsible on their end of taking care of certain parts of the loan. We closed on the loan assumption several weeks after the final deadline (set by Freedom Mortgage) while having no delays on our end regarding paperwork or documentation to provide. They made me so angry with their attitude and indifference I asked my lawyer whether I could sue them but he said I had no actual damages unless I was denied a loan because of their actions. They won't admit when they are incompetent or careless and make a mistake and they will make no effort to correct it insisting it's not their fault but rather, it's yours. I would advise anyone looking for a home loan to avoid Freedom Mortgage like the plague. ![]() So, while they had the right address for the mortgage statement, they sent the notice of increased payment for the escrow account to the wrong address! They said they would not reverse the credit reporting because, after all, the payment was short and they had sent out a notice and tried to call us but apparently couldn't be bothered to leave a message!! When we inquired they said they had not made the mortgage payment because the impound account payment was short even though there was more than enough to pay principal and interest. ![]() We didn't find out until the following month's statement came in the mail.
